Shagreen imitates etched metal and is traditionally created on an item with a special background die, which is made separately. All other details of the relief on items such as medals can also be made using separate dies.
Laser Barking® laser erosion processing technology allows producing all necessary detailing elements in one technological step. The technology is implemented in TurboForma laser system. It only takes loading a 3D model into the software, and then the system does everything without input from the operator.
Manufacture of orders often implies guilloche - drawing an ornament of a dense network of intertwining wavy lines. Before the laser erosion processing technology was invented, the manufacture of such elements was performed by embossing them with special dies, which were made using specialized equipment. The design of these stamps was unique and depended on the machine's design. In addition, the dies were subjected to mandatory heat treatment.
Today, TurboForma laser system eliminates the need for unique guilloche dies and greatly expands the variability of patterns due to their computer simulation.
TurboForma laser erosion processing system with MaxiGraf-Cube® software.
The developed laser erosion processing algorithms, used in TurboForma laser systems and MaxiGraf-Cube® software, allow the controlled destruction of thin surface layers of the processed material, which makes it possible to obtain a uniquely high level of detail in relief images, surface textures and guilloche elements.
LaserBarking® is a unique laser erosion processing of materials that allows creating smooth relief surfaces on steels, brass and various other metals.
